The story of a young woman from the Republic of Moldova, sold in Great Britain as a slave, inspired the opening of an open air museum to New York. The initiative belongs to the British actress Emma Thompson, DECA-press informs.
The exhibition has the topic “Calatori” (The Trip) and describes the adventures of women forced to practice prostitution. The exhibition is formed of seven ship containers, on which the story of the young woman from Moldova was painted. She was sold as a slave at a thousands-kilometer distance of her house.
„This installation is based on the trip of a trafficked woman, a friend of mine called Helen, that was sold by one of her friends in Moldova to some people, that forced her practice prostitution in London when she was 19 years old. When I met her, she told me her story, which I decided to divide into seven parts”, Emma Thompson says, cited by the portal Realitatea.net.
Each part of the story was reconstituted on one contained of the exhibition. The actress Emma Thompson hopes to attract the attention of the public opinion to thousands of women, sold all over the world as slaves for prostitution.
