The awareness raising campaign takes place around the world every year, starting on 25 November, the International Day Against Violence Against Women, and ending on 10 December, the International Human Rights Day. Such campaigns have been held internationally from 1991; in Moldova they have been organized since 2000.
This year, the global campaign’s theme is: “Commit ▪ Act ▪ Demand: We CAN End Violence Against Women!”
The event is organized by the OSCE Mission to Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Moldova, the non-governmental organizations the Gender Centre and La Strada, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and other organizations.
Campaign activities include seminars, roundtables, conferences, TV programmes, exhibitions, a candlelight vigil, a concert and the distribution of T-shirts, CDs and leaflets against domestic violence.
The campaign in Moldova is financed by the OSCE Mission to Moldova, the IOM Mission in Moldova, the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS), UNFPA, the German Embassy, the Danish Foreign Minister, the Karat Coalition and the Mama Cash organization.
Journalists are invited to a news conference at 11:00 on Wednesday, 25 November, at the OSCE Mission to Moldova, str. Mitropolit Dosoftei 108, Chisinau.
